Previous Tutoring Experience: French - Planned weekly hour long lessons reinforcing speaking, writing ,and reading skills; Lessons conducted entirely in French; Student able to write with little to no errors after two months; Reading comprehension increased to native level after two months Music (cello) - Taught special-needs child fundamental musical skills in weekly hour long sessions; Student able to read complex pieces advanced for his age group after a year Without spending time understanding the basic building blocks of any subject, it's easy to become lost and confused. How are you supposed to write an essay without first understanding proper paragraph structure? As a tutor I feel like it's important to reinforce basic concepts introduced in class so the student can be a better participant and understand how to achieve success throughout the rest of his or her academic career. Sometimes teachers just don't have the resources or time move at a comfortable pace for every student. I feel it's the job of a tutor to help correct this imbalance so the student can keep up with the rest of the class. I've used tutors throughout my academic career to help me understand subjects I found difficult and without this extra help, I feel like my secondary school career would have been a lot more stressful and I would not have been able to reach my full potential. I hope to provide the same benefit in tutoring your child.

Hobbies
Even though I major in Political Science, I still have varied interests outside of politics that vary from sports, music, and investing. I believe in exercising the body as well as the mind and have taken advantage of the various PE classes offered at UCSB - like sailing, golf, aerobics, tennis, and yoga. In addition to sports I also love spending some of my free time playing the cello in the UCSB Symphony Orchestra. The first two years of my career I also took weekly lessons with the music faculty to continue improving my skill and knowledge of my instrument. Music has played such an important role throughout my life that I love having the opportunity to continue my hobby at a university level. Since Freshman year I've also been an Executive Member of the Associated Students' Investment Advisory Committee. We meet each week and discuss possible investments in socially responsible ETFs and Mutual Funds with the goal of increasing student funds over the long term. As a board we also organize speaking and networking events with various heads of both local and national investment banks so the student body can learn more about the world of finance and investing.
