I am a student at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where I am working towards my B.S. in General Biological Sciences. Upon completion of my degree, I intend to continue my education in health care and then apply to become a physician's assistant or nurse practitioner. Through the inspiration of my past teachers, who encouraged me to pursue knowledge while questioning the world around me, I have developed a passion for teaching. I now wish to pass on my knowledge and passion to a new generation of students. To me, education is intrinsic to having a happy and healthy life.I have experience working as an orientation leader in my university, in addition to being a counselor at a youth summer camp. These experiences have helped me learn how to develop personal skills needed to assist students in a group or one-on-one setting.I encourage my students to work as a cohesive unit, where they practice together and learn from their mistakes. Ultimately, they should be able to demonstrate what they have learned. Along with college entrance exam preparation, I tutor writing and algebra. My favorite subject is math because it allows me to show why an answer is correct, removing any uncertainty and ambiguity. When I am not studying, I like to play soccer and card games and do Zumba.
